Ssssh want to know a secret?

IF you thought that all vampire stories were the same – think again.

Friday 14 June 2013

Last month I realised that Goodreads do a book voting list (or Listopia), so I placed JOS in several catagories and then forgot about it until today.  Thing is, I don't think I'm doing myself any favours by not trying to get JOS up a few places in the charts.  I have no idea if it'll work, but what do I have to lose?  I may even reach people who have never read it before and like the sound of it and that can't be bad.

So today I've been messaging and Facebooking and Tweeting everyone I can and it's moving on up the list!

The only thing I can ask of you, if you don't mind that is, is to help me out.   If you're on any lists that require a vote, let me know, I'm more than happy to vote for all of yours if you send me the links.

Here is where you'll find it.   As of this minute (14/6/13  1600hrs) I am on page 3 and at number 232.

UPDATES AND TEASES

Well I think it's about time I updated this page. For those who have download JOS3, the next bit of news is that JOS2 is at the agents and editors waiting it's turn to be looked over. I just hope they like it and want to publish it. Once I get it back, I'm working on it non-stop to have it ready as soon as I can. I'd love for a Halloween release, but the sooner the better eh? What can I tell you about this new story? Well it starts when Rachel leaves the Elysium with her parents and it ends with her at Cardiff Castle, the start of JOS3. The story covers 300 years and the Righteous are in it a bit more - I'm following the Moore family through the centuries and anyone who has read JOS3 will know that Daniel's surname is Moore.

Is there a connection?

You'll have to wait and see. ♥

REVIEW: INDIE AUTHOR BOOK REVIEWS

4.0 out of 5 stars IABookReviews.com gave this a 7.0/10.0!, May 27, 2013
By

This review is from: Judgement of Souls (Kindle Edition)

Rating: 7.0/10.0

Review: In a time where many writers are attempting to romanticize vampires and sensationalize them for our younger generations, author Margarita Felices' actually crafts an old-fashioned Gothic Horror story in her latest book, "Judgement of Souls". Her work stays true to the ideas and plots that first brought these creatures to light long ago when Bram Stoker captured the public's imagination with his writing, and forced the vampire out from the dark recesses of our subconscious and into the open. Felices' book updates the tale for modern times while still infusing the pages with romance, action and intriguing characters. While the plot is predictable, it does have exciting elements that keep you reading through till the end. Set in Cardiff, Wales, the city and the places mentioned are rendered wonderfully and you can imagine the events unfolding there without having to put too much effort into it. In regards to the premise of this tale, there is enough background behind each person to allow for another book to follow, and it seems that that could be the direction the author is headed. One of the only problems with the book is its pacing. At 173 pages the story moves too quickly, trying to fit everything into far less pages then it should. This does not allow for enough time to fully explore the inhabitants of the world that Felices' has created. Overall, "Judgement of Souls" is certainly worth reading if you enjoy the classic portrayal of vampires coupled with dark humor in a Gothic Horror setting.

Winners will be randomly selected and announced on 30th May

So, seeing as you are here, why don’t I tell you about this book?

I have always had this morbid fascination with supernatural/paranormal beings and with vampires in particular. It wasn’t much of a surprise that my first novel would be about vampires – although it was a surprise to me to learn it was a trilogy!  My vampire lead is Rachel de Grosnez and she’s no weak minded female. She’s a kick ass lean mean fighting machine who is stopped in her tracks by Daniel Moore.  Her family were the guardians of a very special vampire artefact called the Book of Cain and one day it’s stolen from the vampire Elysium (their safe haven) by Max, who entered the Elysium in a near fanfare, targeting the young Rachel to the point of seduction.  And then he’s gone.  Obviously she’s heartbroken by his actions, especially as her parents have been banished and she promises to find the book and restore them back in their rightful places.  But by now, three hundred years have passed and she’s hit a dead end.  Until Max returns, kills Daniel’s best friend and now they are all involved in the search.  All this while Daniel’s friends try to find something that will convince Daniel to dump Rachel, and Rachel’s vampire friend Arun, tries to convince her to dump Daniel!

I’ve been an author for a year; I say that loosely because I felt that I could only be called that once someone bought my book and reviewed it and I’ve been very lucky to have received some great reviews.   So I hope you’ll pick up a copy of it because very soon the prequel will be here and you’ll be dying to know what’s been happening!

Enjoy your tour around all the different blogs and don’t forget to check me out on here again and also on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/#!/JudgementOfSouls3TheKissAtDawn

REVIEWS

I like posting my new reviews on Facebook.  It gives me that warm feeling that someone out there has taken the time to do it - and it should be appreciated.  So after posting it around lots of those Facebook groups I belong to, I'm posting it here too, just in case I hadn't given you enough hints about my books and how much I'd appreciate any input into the story... or I should say, stories.
Part Two is going to the proof reader this week and then it's off to Books To Go Now and their brilliant editors.   Won't be long now before you find out what Rachel and Arun got up to!   Did I mention that Arun gets married?

So here's the review...

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent!, April 11, 2013

I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised to see this novel returns to the old traditional vampire and puts to rest this idea that vampires have to "suck", sorry for the pun!

This story is reminiscent of something that Anne Rice would write, in that Felices' vampires are quite dark and dangerous, and yet they can still feel human emotions such as jealousy and love. The attraction between Rachel and Daniel is magnetic, and when an old love threatens not only their relationship but all mortals, Rachel must rely on her true friends to defeat the evil Max. I don't want to spoil anything here, so I won't say anything other than I really enjoyed this debut novel! The book is well paced and cleverly written. The scenery is Gothic and brooding. She puts a new spin on a classic monster! I can't wait to read the next book in this series!

WELCOME ALL TO MY BLOG...

I added my first video to the blog...   anyone would think I knew what I was doing...  for those of you who haven't watched it before, take a look...

BLOG HOPPING... at least that's the plan!

Well I have agreed to go on my very first Blog Hop – it’s called “Hot Summer Nights Blog Hop!” (Hot summer? In Wales? I wish.)  in case you come across it and it's happening on May 22nd to 29th.
Now, I’ve never done one of these so it’s totally alien and I’m worried that I’m going to miss it because even though I’ve received instructions on how to do it, it’s sort of not sinking in!   Call it age, call it having my mind on other things, call it laziness.  But I’m wondering if I have to post the same thing on all the blogs or do I have to mix it up.  Plus I have to offer a prize - for doing what I have no idea yet - and what do I give away?

I am having JUDGEMENT OF SOULS printed, so perhaps one of those books might be alright?  They are going to be one-off’s after all.  (And that's another story... after scaling it down to A5 size, it's turning out to be a wopping 330 pages! No wonder those books I've been reading have been so big - and there I was feeling quite inadequate because mine didn't go that big!)
But back to the Blog Hop and I seriously need an idiots guide.
                                     This sort of thing:
Step 1, find the first person who is listed as part of the blog.
Step 2, add your links to their blog.
Step 3, and so on and so on.
So if anyone out there is going on this blog too or has gone on one… send me the correct STEP 1, STEP 2, STEP 3… and I’ll be really really grateful.

And I'm giving stuff away.  Well not stuff, just one item per winner.  It's Welsh, it's traditional, and it's cheap to ship abroad if I have to.

Now what can I keep you up to date with?

Well I’m on the final read through of JUDGEMENT OF SOULS 2: The Call of the Righteous, then I’m going to get someone else to read it.  You know when you feel there’s something missing from your story? Well, I’m sure there should be more added and for the life of me, I can’t see it.  Maybe it’s a nerve thing.  I had great reviews and feedback from the first book and I’m worried sick this one won’t match up.  I have some great moments in it, and a lot of questions answered from JUDGEMENT OF SOULS 3: Kiss at Dawn that will make you wonder how it all started and how far back I can go… and that’s the next project.

Well I guess that’s it for now.   Pop over to my Facebook page if you want to chat, or add a comment here and I’ll get back to you.
Cwtches from Wales.

MY BOOKS....

Even though JUDGEMENT OF SOULS 3: Kiss at Dawn is the third part of a trilogy, it is in fact the first book in the series as my stories start in modern times, and then it will take you back 300 years in the second book, and later in book 1, further back.

My two short stories are up and ready for download.
The first is The PSYCHIC.
I liked the sound of this story when I first began to write it.
It was originally a screenplay so I took it to pieces and made it more descriptive.
Beryl is a con artist and after she's left penniless she comes across this scam while walking through a market and five years later, and being very good at it, she now has a great life.
But Beryl really shouldn't mess about with this sort of thing, because you never know who's going to visit you next.

My first ever romantic story THE STORY OF MY HEART.
Megan made a choice and it was a wrong one, but now she gets a second chance and deep down she's scared to death.
I suppose the underlying story here is something we're all afraid of... what if?
What if I'd turned that other corner?
What if I'd spoken to that man and not ignored his interest?

Welcome to my new blog...

If anyone is viewing this, then it means I've started this blog page correctly.

Please give me time to get accustomed to doing anything with it and then I promise to let you all contribute and post and advertise and start conversations... right now I need an idiots guide to this, so be patient and then I promise we will have lots of fun!!
